Blessed Victoria Strata, also known as Maria Vittoria Fornari Strata, was born in 1562 in Genoa, Italy, to a devout Catholic family.
At the early age of seventeen, she married Angelo Strata and together they had six children.

However, tragedy struck when Victoria was widowed at the young age of 25 in 1587.
Despite her desire to remarry for the sake of her children, Victoria experienced a powerful vision of the Virgin Mary that convinced her to dedicate her life to a single life of motherhood, chastity, prayer, and charity to the poor.
She selflessly chose to devote herself entirely to the well-being of her children and her faith.
As her children grew older and more independent, Victoria sought to deepen her spiritual journey. In 1605, along with ten like-minded friends, she took vows of religious life and formed a religious congregation known as the Blue Annonciades or Blue Nuns.
